Involving Medway

A new initiative designed to encourage people to get involved with and help make decisions about health provision in the area. The one-year pilot project is funded by Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), and MVA are working with a range of partners to support the delivery of this pilot in Medway - click here to find out more.

Ideas Spring

A project funded by Postcode Community Trust, a grant giving charity funded entirely by the players of Peoples Postcode.

Medway Voluntary Action developed a programme of workshops and mentoring support to be held throughout 2018 to help turn good ideas into community projects that help address issues participants care about in the ME4 area.

We started by exploring the submitted ideas and the ways in which they could improve the lives of local people, and now we are helping with the development of plans to access funding, support and to promote the idea. Over the course of the year expert mentors are helping to develop skills, and participants will get the chance to work alongside the other local projects and make new networks with like-minded people.

The deadline to join this project has now passed, but we’ll update you as people’s ideas begin to grow.

Social Enterprise Champions

Social investment is another tool for charities and social enterprises to consider as they explore ways to generate income – but MVA recognises that local organisations could benefit from some extra support to realistically explore this option. That’s why MVA are delighted to announce that they are being supported by the Barrow Cadbury Trust’s Connect Fund to deliver a new Social Investment Champions Programme for Medway.

We will recruit six local sector leaders to become Social Enterprise Champions who will be trained to act as advocates and mentors for social investment. The training will provide them with the tools to support organisations via a mix of one-to-one support, website resources and promoting best practice and shared learning.

Once our Champions are recruited and trained, MVA will host an event on Social Enterprise with keynote speakers and four preparatory workshops on subjects related to social enterprise.

As a result of this project, MVA expects to leave a legacy of information, advice and example organisations that will help to inspire future local entrepreneurs.

More information about the project can be viewed by clicking here.

If you’re interested in becoming a Social Investment Champion then please contact us.

If you’re interested in finding out more about the programme and would like to register for the event, also please contact us and we will add you to the invitation list.
