Child Health Services Initial Information Event – June 201726-Apr-2017
Local Public and Health Authorities in Medway have been looking to re-develop some children’s health services, and want large and voluntary organisations to be part of this.
The Medway Council and NHS Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are planning to re-commission some children’s health services during 2017/18, ranging from the universal programmes of health visiting and school nursing, to more specialist services delivered by community paediatricians and therapists.
Their aim is to build a modern and joined up system of children’s community health services that keep the interests of children and families at its heart; they believe that it is the local voluntary sector which would be essential to the delivery of this.
Some examples of how the sector’s skills and experience could be important to this would be in service areas that include:
Providing Direct Treatment and Support
Engaging Children and Young People in Keeping Healthy
The Involvement of Families and Carers
Listening to and Communicating the Patient Voice
Supporting Practitioners with ‘Social Prescribing’
Being able to Reach Families who find it Difficult to Access Services
The intention would be to provide services which are able to respond better to families’ individual needs, focusing on the difference that can be made to children and families.
The Council and CCG are encouraging large organisations who may bid for the tender to work together with the voluntary sector.
In order to provide more detail about this they are hosting an Initial Information Session, and are inviting voluntary sector and similar groups to find out more about the tender and how they can get involved.
The event will take place at the Gun wharf Offices in Chatham on Monday 12th June 2017 between 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm
This event offers the opportunity to help health service providers know what would be expected and to strive to deliver services in a way that would make a positive difference for children and families.
At the time of writing, more details and an agenda will be announced nearer the date of the event.
