Early Help Training from Medway Council

The Early Help Transformation Team, part of Medway Council, is offering a series of FREE training courses designed for those working with children and families across Medway.

Early Help is about working with children, young people and their families to offer the right support at an early stage before a small need becomes a bigger one.

A number of different professionals and organisations may be involved in the early help process to offer support in a range of areas. The goal of early help is to support families to resolve their own problems and prevent further problems in the future.

The aim is to reduce the need for intense or acute services to become involved with the intention of offering support to make sure all of the needs of the child or family are met so that they can flourish.

 

Early Help Awareness training

These series of courses are being held at the Medway Council Offices at Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR.

The course is aimed at those working with families and children who need an awareness of Early Help but will not be completing Early Help Assessments. For example, school secretaries or children’s centre receptionists.

The two-hour session will cover:

  • Introduction to Early Help
  • Ethos of Early Help
  • Early Help Process in Medway
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Support Mechanisms

There are morning and afternoon sessions are available, between 9.30am and 11.30am and 1.30pm - 3.30pm.

The next date for this course is Tuesday 11th July 2017, with further dates to be announced later in the season.

Early Help for Managers Training

Aimed at Managers who have staff who work directly with children and families, the two-hour session will cover:

  • Introduction to Early Help
  • Ethos of Early Help
  • Early Help Process in Medway
  • Effective Assessment / Planning / Review overview
  • Roles and Responsibilities – including Supervision & Case Management
  • Support Mechanisms

There are morning and afternoon sessions are available, again between 9.30am and 11.30am and 1.30pm - 3.30pm.

The date for this course is Thursday 20th July 2017, and will again be held at Gun Wharf.

Early Help Assessment Practitioner Training

Designed for all practitioners who work directly with children and families; this is a FULL DAY session which will cover:

  • Introduction to Early Help
  • Ethos of Early Help
  • Early Help Process in Medway
  • Effective Assessment / Planning / Review
  • Promoting Engagement
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Secure Data Transmission
  • Support Mechanisms

The Council advise this course being is held at alternate venues depending on the date.

These all day sessions run between 9:15am till 4pm; the next session is being held at Hand in Hand Children's Centre on Monday 10th July 2017, with further dates and venues to be announced later in the season.

The Medway Council have advised that places are limited, and suggest to book your place as soon as possible.
