Grants Available from Wooden Spoon Charity

Grants are available for organisations, such as schools and charities that are working to support disadvantaged and disabled children and young people under 25 years of age in the UK.

Wooden Spoon is a charity that changes children’s lives through the power of rugby. Each year we fund around 70 projects, from community programmes and specialist playgrounds to medical treatment centres and sensory rooms. Since 1983, we’ve distributed over £26 million to more than 700 projects, helping more than a million children.

Projects must normally be of a capital nature. The funding is for projects that address:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Sensory rooms and gardens
  • Specialist equipment and facilities
  • Playgrounds and outdoor activities
  • Education projects

Educational or disability sports focused projects must have a rugby element.

The scheme is a continuous rolling project, so applications can be made at any time.
