L&Q Launches £1m-a-year Charity Fund31-Oct-2018
Giant housing association L&Q is launching a £1million-a-year fund for charities.
Intended to support local people to thrive at every stage of their lives whether through education and employment, or promoting health and well-being or combating isolation; L&Q says The Place Makers Fund will be open shortly to bids from charities and community organisations in London and the South East.
This can include the Medway District, and L&Q says that charities of all sizes will be eligible.
The funding programme is being run by Rocket Science, working in partnership with L&Q, to use funds from the Foundation. All funded projects should support the Foundation to achieve its strategic outcomes:
- Independent lives - Supporting residents to live independent lives, by enhancing residents’ social and economic resilience to sustain their tenancies
- Successful places – Increasing social mobility and community engagement among L&Q residents and communities
- Social responsibility - Integrating social responsibility in to our core activities, acting as an enabler and champion for corporate responsibility and sustainability across the organisation
To apply, L&Q ask that applicants show that their project works toward fulfilling one of the outcomes relating to the Foundation’s Successful Places strategy:
Children and young people having access to opportunities that can develop their skills and improve their life potential
Health and Wellbeing
Supporting everyone within L&Q communities to be happy and healthy through every life stage
Isolation and Exclusion
Creating a sense of community that enables people to engage and create a sense of togetherness
Because the scheme can be seen as a continuous rolling programme; L&Q advises there is no real deadline and so applications will be accepted at the beginning of each month until 2020.
