Community panel member

As a community panel member you will facilitate meetings attended by a young person who has offended, their parents/carers and, where appropriate, the victims of crime. During these meetings, you will discuss the offence and its impact. The role also involves assisting the young person in creating a tailored contract aimed at repairing the harm caused to the victim and/or the community, as well as reducing the risk of re-offending. It's a challenging yet rewarding role that positively impacts the lives of young people, their families and the victims of crime. Your involvement can support young people in decreasing their involvement in crime, encourage positive behavioural changes, improve relationships with those around them and give victims of crime the chance to be heard. Training will be provided for those who decided to become community panel members, as well as ongoing support and supervision.
