Charities to get Funding to Save Surplus Farm Food

Set to be launched this year, the scheme will give grants to the not-for-profit food redistribution sector in England, and this continues a pledge by the previous Government to launch a food waste prevention fund.

The current Government estimate over 300,000 Tonnes of edible food a year are wasted or used for animal feed.

The scheme aims to help those groups secure new equipment, such as hoppers and balers, or to train staff and set up new technology so they can get food that would be wasted to those who need it most.

Information on when the fund opens and full eligibility criteria for applications are to be confirmed in due course.

More details are available at the Government website.
