Cold Weather Preparedness from The Emergencies Partnership

National response group The Emergencies Partnership have collected various alerts, guides, insight and advice to support preparing for the challenges of cold weather and the pressures this can add during the winter period.

They have collected various resources also available from the UK Government, including the cold weather plan for England. People can also sign up to receive cold weather alerts from the Met Office. There is also a guide to understand the alert thresholds.

There are action cards available which summarise advice on how different organisations need to respond, including an action card especially for the voluntary and community sector (VCS).

There are 6 top tips for staying well this winter, a ‘Keep Warm Keep Well’ leaflet and a blog from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) on Responding to the challenge of cold weather and winter.

In light of the pandemic, there is also a specific edition of the Health Matters leaflet from Public Health England (PHE) that gives details of actions that can be taken to prevent harm during the cold weather (especially on some vulnerable groups) and make sure people stay safe and well.

If there are other resources that you use and would like to share with others, The Partnership advise these can be sent to the Insights Team at info@vcsep.org.uk.
