Free Funding from Medway Council to Improve & Repair Local Shopfronts & Stores

Medway Council is offering grants of up to £5,000 to independent retail and hospitality businesses to improve their shopfronts.

Funded by a £300,000 Pride in Place initiative, the funding can cover cosmetic (paint, signage, lighting) or structural repairs and accessibility improvements to boost high street regeneration.

Shopkeepers and applicants can apply for up to £5,000 through the Medway Shopfront Improvement Scheme, and the monies can cover costs such as repairs, re-painting and new signage, lighting, and small structural improvements.

This support forms part of a collection of schemes from The Council, including Partners for Green Growth (grants up to £2,500) and The Kent and Medway Business Fund (0% interest loans.)

Independent retail and hospitality businesses in Medway are eligible to apply; however, it is advised interested parties or applicants should contact the Medway Business Support Team prior to submission or for any enquiries (suggesting charities or similar organisations could also qualify.)

The deadline for this scheme is 31st March 2027.
