Funding Round-up – Disability and Health (Part 3)

Here is another collection of funding rounds from local and national organisations focusing on disability and health themes for the Voluntary Sector.

Due to the varying nature and progress of public policies and other related activity, MVA do advise that some of the information below may have changed since the time of its issue, and whilst every effort has been made to provide up-to-date details, they ask that readers please check with each organisation’s website for the latest news.

Grants from Gardening with Disabilities Trust
The Gardening with Disabilities Trust offers grants to people in the UK to enable them to continue gardening despite age, illness, or disability.

The Trust help with adaptations, the cost of tools and raised beds as well as advice and information on different aids and techniques.

With meetings held every month to review funding requests, The trust advise the scheme is a Continuous Rolling Programme so applications can be accepted at any time.

Bursaries for Hospice Staff from Masonic Charitable Foundation
The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MFC) is organising financial support to help the professional development of individual staff in Hospices across the UK.

The funding is intended to improve the quality of care given to patients, their carers and their families through offering hospice staff the opportunity to participate in additional learning and training.

Facilitated by Hospice UK, bursaries are offered from MFC towards the costs of fees for accredited courses.

To qualify, the organisers do advise that applicants should be members of Hospice UK, holding a position in an eligible organisation as a:
  • Nurse
  • Healthcare Assistant
  • Doctor
  • Allied Health Professional
  • Social Worker
  • Bereavement Counsellor
  • Administration Staff (HR, Finance, Fundraising)
  • Spiritual Care Worker
  • Pharmacist, or
  • Complementary Therapists
At the time of writing, there was no specified deadline, suggesting applications could be accepted at any time.

Reducing Barriers to Driving Programme from Motability
The charity Motability offers various grant programmes for charities and similar organisations which support the transport needs of disabled people living in the UK.

Their Reducing Barriers to Driving Grant Programme is designed to help charities and organisations with activity which reduces the challenges to driving faced by disabled people.

This support is intended to be outside of the support offered by their current Motability Scheme.

This programme focuses it’s funding on:
  • Continuation funding for schemes, programmes and initiatives that already exist, and who provide best practice solutions, but need further support to remain operational or scale up the service they can provide to help more disabled people
  • Staff or volunteer training and costs, and
  • Full cost recovery grants (this can include indirect costs)
