Funding Round-up – Social Inclusion (Part 2), June 2023

Here is another collection of funding rounds from local and national organisations focusing on social inclusion themes aimed at helping charities continue their work.

Whilst every effort has been made to provide up-to-date information, due to the varying nature and progress of public policies and other related activity, MVA do advise that some of the details below may have changed since the time of its issue and ask that readers please check with each organisation’s website for the latest news.

Backing the Clever Ideas that Move Communities Forward – The Aviva Community Fund
The Aviva Community Fund (ACF) is making a call for applications that help build a brighter, more sustainable future for communities.

On top of funding, they are offering access to volunteering and professional coaching opportunities, as well as other resources to help build a charity’s capabilities and achieve long-term sustainable success.

For this season, ACF are especially interested in hearing from applicants whose project focuses on these two areas:
  • Climate Action – promoting healthy, thriving communities by preventing, preparing for and protecting against the impacts of climate change
  • Financial Wellbeing – helping people take control of their wellbeing by giving them the tools to be more financially independent and ready for anything
The Funder advises that eligible projects should submit an online application form and create a project page which explains their idea.

These pages would then be available to all Aviva employees to browse and donate to, and applicants can also share their pages to also raise public donations.

At the time of writing, The Funders had announced there was no longer any specified deadlines, which means applications would be accepted at any time.

More information and how to apply can be found on the ACF website.

Energy Support Fund from British Gas Energy Trust
The British Gas Energy Trust are offering funds to British Gas Customers who are struggling to pay their energy bills.

The scheme is available to ALL types of customers - this includes customers on a pre-payment meter or a credit customer.

Designed to clear an outstanding debt on a current or open gas, electricity or a household’s dual fuel energy account, The Trust will provide credit to the account of eligible applicants with the grant.

Before applying for a grant, The Trust encourage customers to contact their local Money Advice Agency for help as this would help that customer’s chances of a successful application.

The Trust says the scheme will remain open until funding is exhausted.

More details and how to apply are available at the Energy Trust’s website.

Help The Homeless
Intended for small and medium-sized charitable organisations to fund the capital costs of projects, grants are available from Help The Homeless.

The aim of the grant is to help homeless people return to the community and to resume a normal life.

The deadline for applications is 15th June 2023 with further dates to be announced later in the year.
