Relief of Poverty & Hardship Grants from The Skinners’ Benevolent Trust

Grants are available to charitable organisations to fund projects that support people in Kent who are experiencing the negative impact of poverty and deprivation.

The Trust say they want to fund grassroots organisations that work in their communities to enable local and tailored responses to the needs these communities face, aiming to focus on a longer-term approach to rule out the underlying causes of poverty and hardship in Kent.

The Trust say they are looking to support projects delivered by organisations with a track record of success, or where the specific model of work has proven to be successful elsewhere.

The relationship between families and poverty is a funding priority for the Trust. Families are a focal point through which poverty is often experienced. Those with multiple children, as well as single-parent families, are disproportionately at risk of facing its impact. Many are multi-generational, supporting elderly grandparents or individuals with disabilities within the family group.
The Trust are especially interested in applications supporting families as a priority as well as people within the following communities:
  • Older People
  • People with Disabilities
  • Early Years
  • Those impacted by Domestic Violence
At the time of writing, The Trust stated that applications are considered at their committee meetings in March and September each year, with deadlines approximately 6 weeks beforehand.
