Help MVA Give Young People the Best Possible Start in Volunteering

If you support, or would like to support, young people to volunteer then read on as MVA needs your help to expand volunteer opportunities for Young People in Medway.

Medway is known for its rich cultural heritage and close-knit communities. However, there is a growing concern that young people in Medway are not given enough opportunities to volunteer and contribute to their communities.

Young people are often eager to make a difference, contributing their skills and energy to causes they care about. Volunteering provides young people with a unique opportunity to develop essential life skills, gain experience, and contribute to their communities. By volunteering, young people can:

  • Build self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Learn new skills and enhance their resume
  • Make new friends and expand their social network
  • Gain a better understanding of their community and its needs
  • Make a positive impact on the lives of others

While there are several volunteering opportunities available in Medway, many young people report facing barriers that prevent them from participating. Some of these barriers include:

  • Lack of awareness about available volunteering opportunities.
  • Limited transportation options, making it difficult to reach volunteering sites.
  • Perceived lack of relevance of volunteering activities to their interests and career goals.
  • Misconceptions about the time commitment required for volunteering.
  • Concerns about safety and supervision at volunteering sites.

Recognising this, MVA are thrilled to announce their plan to launch a new dedicated space on their website committed to connecting young people (aged 14+) with volunteering programs offered by local VCSEF (Voluntary, Community, Social Enterprise, and Faith) organisations and groups.

By providing this dedicated space, MVA aims to support a thriving system of youth volunteering. They believe that by connecting young people with meaningful opportunities, they can empower them to develop their skills, broaden their horizons, and become active and engaged members of society.

MVA are inviting all local VCSEF organisations and groups offering volunteering programs for young people aged 14+ to take advantage of this free opportunity to share the support they have on offer, and have a space where, not only they can go to, to find out more, but a space where young people can be signposted to also to get involved.

Let's work together to help them showcase their skills and get the best possible start in life.

The deadline to have your information with MVA in time for the 'GO LIVE' of this project is before Friday the 6th of May. Click HERE to complete a short form to register your information and find out more.
