Creative Medway Environmental Sustainability Pledge Programme

Their priorities are shaped at annual events where they invite everyone with an interest in culture in Medway to put forward hot topics, issues and ideas as part of a programme of ‘open space’ sessions.

Recent workshops are still highlighting that environmental sustainability continues to need more support across Medway. With this in mind, Creative Medway are keen to support the arts, heritage, culture and VCSEF sectors to demonstrate the work they are doing on this important topic

So... What does this support look like?

Anyone who is part of Kent or Medway’s creative community can sign up to the Kent and Medway Creative Sector Environmental Sustainability Pledge. The pledge is a way to make your environmental commitments public, it provides accountability and demonstrates the collective impact of our actions.

When you sign up, Creative Medway and Creative Kent will publish your commitments and email you every 18 months to give you the chance to update on them.


The Kent & Medway Sustainability Pledge

Creative Medway's Venues & Events Accessibility Pledge is a collaboration between Creative Medway's Access & Inclusion Working Group and Attitude is Everything, a national organisation connecting disabled people with music and live event industries.

The Pledge encourages venues and events to prioritise accessibility in their work, ensuring transparency and honesty about accessibility. The pledge aims to make creative spaces and events more accessible for people with disabilities, neurodivergents, or long-term health conditions.

The Kent & Medway Environmental Sustainability Pledge seeks to provide accountability and demonstrate the power of collective impact. The Creative Medway Compact are encouraging more organisations to sign up to the pledge and make their environental commitments public.

To support the pledge the Compact published an extensive list of resources to support local VCSEF groups and organisations to take action.
