RELAUNCHING in November - Continued Health Funding support from The James Tudor Foundation

The James Tudor Foundation continues its work to offer physical and mental health grants to support registered UK charities.

The James Tudor Foundation was established to provide relief of human sickness, and it gives grants to health-focused charities and those running health-related programmes.

The Foundation directs its resources across specific programmes tailored to the healthcare sector, such as Physical Health, Mental Health, Hospice Care, and International efforts.

Physical Health Support

The James Tudor Foundation Physical Health Funding provides grants (usually for one year) to UK-registered health charities delivering therapeutic interventions, health information, and direct healthcare.

UK-registered charities that mainly focus on health or operating a specific health programme are eligible to apply, but the Foundation advise an applicant’s annual income must be below £20 million and have at least 5 years of audited or independently examined accounts.

The programme targets four core areas:

Evidence-Based Physical Therapies: NICE-recommended therapies, such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and rehab, for people with physical disabilities, neurodegenerative or neuromuscular conditions, or life-changing injuries. Priority is for free or low-cost services.

Specialist Single-Condition Charities: Condition-specific charities offering nurse-led helplines or support platforms. Members of PIF or the Helplines Partnership are preferred.

Direct Healthcare for Marginalised Groups: Frontline healthcare delivery for highly vulnerable groups; this includes those experiencing homelessness, street sex workers, and vulnerable migrants.

Support for Emergency Air Ambulances is available, albeit limited to South-west England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

To apply, The Foundation uses a two-stage application process, where charities should complete an online eligibility checker, then submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) during active application rounds; successful applicants would then be invited to submit a Full Application.

The next round for interested parties to submit an EOI is due to relaunch 2nd November 2026, with further dates to be announced in later seasons.

More information and how to apply can be found at The Foundation’s website.

Mental Health Grants Programme

The Foundation also offers support through its Mental Health Grants Programme, offering flexible funding to UK-registered charities providing evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions.

The fund specifically targets organisations dedicated to helping children and young people recover from Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), as well as specialist charities supporting parents affected by ACEs, mental illness, or addiction.

The Foundation does specify the applicant's whole programme of work must fit within the following priorities:

Support for Children and Young People: Open to charities with a specialist, single focus on supporting children affected by ACEs.

This includes childhood abuse, neglect, domestic violence, parental substance misuse or mental illness, and complex bereavement, such as loss through suicide or incarceration. Organisations should be seen to take a children-first approach.

Support for Parents: Open to specialist charities whose central focus is delivering whole-family, trauma-informed programmes.

These must help parents confront their own ACEs to break intergenerational trauma, or assist families where a caregiver’s addiction or illness puts children at risk.

The next round for interested parties to submit an EOI is again due to relaunch 2nd November 2026, with further dates to be announced in later seasons.
