Let's Talk Mental Health Training funded by H&CP

Thanks to funding from Medway and Swale Health and Care Partnership, MVA have been able to deliver mental health training free of charge to Medway's VCSEF.

In just 10 months, over 120 people from a diverse range of organisations signed up to attend these free training sessions. Titled 'Let's Talk Mental Health', the learning outcomes for the session included:
  • Recognise the need for empowering communities to consider their mental wellbeing and the role of prevention.
  • Understand the 5 Ways to Wellbeing
  • Increased confidence and skills for talking about mental health and wellbeing
  • Improved awareness of some mental health conditions
  • Increased knowledge of local and national mental health and wellbeing support available
To support those people who were interested in learning more, but did not have capacity to attend the half-day training session, everyone who signed up received a mini-briefing pack that provided information from the session and signposting resources for mental health and wellbeing support available in Medway.

Feedback from participants who attended the training included:

“I found the course informative and gained a lot from it. It is useful to hear and also feel much more able to help someone as I guide them. The signpost do’s and don’t was helpful as I had never received training on this aspect before.”

“I’d recommend this session for its pace and exploration into the subject, as well as the direction and resources it provides.”

“It is a valuable taster into mental health, providing the attendee with a lot of opportunity to look further into and potentially gain a good grasp of the subject itself.”

“At the same time, it does offer something for ‘experts with experience’ who want to refresh their existing knowledge (and possibly improve on their self-help)”

“Comprehensive, informative, illuminating, helpful”

“You had me actively listening, thank you for reminding me.”
