Funding & Business Support from The School for Social Entrepreneurs

A national organisation specialising in capacity-building and continued professional development are offering charities funding and seasonal support to help them become a safe and profitable place for investors.

The Social Investment Gateway Programme from the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) is a FREE 12-month support programme designed to help UK charities, social enterprises, and community organisations become "investment-ready".

The Programme offers FREE access to tailored workshops, diagnostic tools, peer coaching, and investment surgeries. It also offers direct introductions to active social investors.

Interested applicants can also access one of two grant options:
  • Match Trading™ Grant: Grant money paid out in instalments as your trading income increases, or
  • Repayable Grant: A flexible, pilot funding option
The programme is open to established not-for-profit organisations in England looking to expand. To be eligible, SSE ask that your organisation should have:
  • An annual turnover above £100,000
  • An active trading model with clear plans to grow sales over the next year
  • A desire to explore social investment or repayable finance
Focusing mainly on building internal business capacity, The SSE’s 12-month curriculum will teach successful applicants how to:
  • Improve on your pricing, marketing, and sales plans
  • Improve your finances and internal systems
  • Improve governance and risk management, and
  • Collect better evidence of your impact for investors.
Applicants and charity organisations can register their interest and download application guidelines directly via the School for Social Entrepreneurs Portal.

SSE is also hosting an online companion workshop, Unlocking Social Investment, on 14th October 2026 for groups wanting a brief introductory overview before they commit.

With the second round launching recently, the deadline for applications is 6th November 2026 (with further rounds due to be announced) for the programme unit set to run from March 2027 to February 2028.

More information and how to apply can be found at the SSE’s website.
