Two Funding Opportunities Supporting Young People

Support to help Vulnerable Children and Young Adults from John Lewis

The John Lewis Partnership Foundation (JLPF) say they exist to create a happier world where all young people can access meaningful employment.

The JLPF Employability Fund awards discretionary grants to registered charities and CICs working with disadvantaged communities helping them to acquire the relevant skills required for meaningful employment

The Foundation does this by investing in vulnerable children and young adults, providing education and skills for meaningful employment.

JLPF are especially interested in funding projects that are:

  • Focused on vulnerable children and young adults living in the most disadvantaged communities
  • Working with communities in the UK and overseas, where the John Lewis business operates and sources
  • Maximising impact by investing in partnerships that catalyse innovative youth employment projects and help bring proven concepts to scale

Whilst there are no deadlines for applications, The Foundation advise this funding stream is currently closed, but they will be relaunching their call for funding enquiries in due course and ask interested parties to visit their website to check when they are open for applications.

More information and how to apply can be found on the Foundation’s website. Further funding enquiries can be made by email at trustsandfoundations@johnlewis.co.uk

Help for Organisations within the Youth Sector from Paul Hamlyn Foundation

The Youth Fund from The Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) provides help to organisations whose main purpose is helping young people (aged 14-25) in less fortunate positions, where making the move across to adult independence is most challenging, and those who are most vulnerable.

Based on the Foundation’s mission to improve opportunities and life chances for young people; the Fund supports organisations which work with young people in a way that recognises and builds on their strengths and potential.

PHF says the funding can be used for items such as salaries, upgrading IT systems, staff training and running costs.

The Foundation is particularly interested in hearing from and helping organisations working in areas of social and economic deprivation.

At the time of writing, the scheme is a Continuous Rolling Programme, so there is no deadline and applications can be accepted at any time; however, the Foundation advise applicants should submit their applications at the earliest point when it is ready.

More information and how to apply is available at the Foundation’s website.
