This support is vital for a lot of our members, especially the ones who are more isolated. Quite frequently, our members don’t drive and are frail; having fresh food and their medication collected for them is vital for their health and well-being, and having someone with them for appointments can make all the difference when it comes to keeping well. Home Befriending

Our communities biggest need is friendship. We need befrienders, people who are happy to be a friend to those who need them. Some of our members are unable to leave the house due to their own needs or because they are caring for relatives with chronic health conditions. The role our home befrienders play in supporting these members is essential. Having a friendly face and a chat really helps to combat the loneliness they can often face. Full training and support provided. For more information please contact Rebecca Bentham at admin@waltcic.org.uk.

Van Team Champion

There are three roles with the Van Champion Team.

1. Van Driver: Our van drivers not only drive the vans, but also help load and unload the tools.

2. Driver’s Mate: When we know there are heavy tools to collect, we like to send a Driver’s Mate willing to help with the loading but not wanting to drive

3. Van Manager: Each van has a volunteer manager who arranges the collection schedule, organises the driver rota, and looks after the van.

Together they make up our amazing van teams.

Tools with a Mission

Our vans are based in Ipswich, Coventry, Maidstone, Aldershot and Redcar.
9 Jul 2022

Tool Ambassador

The main role of a Tool Ambassador is to be our first contact in their local community. Our Tool Ambassadors are the people that members of the public contact to donate tools.

Our Tool Ambassadors collect the donated tools, load them into boxes (easy to get from supermarkets), and store them ready for one of our vans to collect. They
then arrange with their local Van Manager for them to be collected by a TWAM van.

Tools with a Mission

This is a home based role, so you can live anywhere in England and Wales (but excludes Devon and Cornwall).
9 Jul 2022

Community Ambassador

The main role of a Community Ambassador is to speak publicly on behalf of TWAM and be our public face in their locality. This will mean receiving invitations from a
variety of groups wanting a volunteer speaker to talk about TWAM.

Talks can be from 10 minutes to 40 minutes long and may include a Q&A session. Please don’t worry as we will not ask you to speak at a meeting you are not confident
to attend.

Tools with a Mission

This is a home based role, so you can live anywhere in England and Wales.
9 Jul 2022

TWAM Local Group

A Local Group is a team of people who share our passion for livelihood creating tools and get together to collect tools from their area. Many also arrange tool collections at local supermarkets, DIY stores and garden centres.

Many also offer talks to local community groups and even speak on local radio.

Some groups sort the tools before arranging collection and some even do some refurbishment, such as grinding off rust and fixing loose handles.

To start you need somewhere to store tools, such as a vacant garage or big shed and the enthusiasm to gather together likeminded friends. Our local groups have a
great community spirit and are a huge support for TWAM.

Tools with a Mission

Anywhere within England and Wales (but not Devon or Cornwall).
9 Jul 2022

Church Ambassador

Our Church Ambassadors are our face and contact with the local Church. We are a Christian mission relying
entirely on the goodness, leading, and provision of God, and we need His Church to stand with us.

Our Church Ambassadors encourage their Church to pray by distributing the Prayer Diary or arranging prayer
events. They also arrange Coffee Mornings to raise funds and promote the work. They ask for TWAM to be
mentioned in notices or chosen for special collections. Overall, the Church Ambassadors keep TWAM close to
the heart of the congregation.

Community Champion

The main role of a Community Champion is to help raise support in their community for TWAM. This will mean organising events (or finding people to organise them) such as coffee mornings, quiz nights, open gardens and all sorts of creative ways to fundraise.

It means keeping an eye on what is going on in the community and perhaps finding people to enter sponsored events such as fun runs, 10Ks, walks for TWAM.

It will include working with our other volunteers to arrange events such as TWAM evenings with coffee and cake or a buffet.

Community Fundraisers need to be people with big ideas and the energetic enthusiasm to see them through.

Tools with a Mission

This is a home based role, so you can live anywhere in England and Wales.
