Volunteering, the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and your Mental Health

If you’ve never heard about them, you can find out more about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing on the NHS website; and they are:
Connect
Be active
Take notice
Keep learning
Give

Volunteering offers a wealth of opportunity for your to engage with these 5 Ways to Wellbeing – by volunteering with a local charity you may have opportunities to connect with other people, be more active whilst undertaking your role, learn new skills and (most certainly) you’ll be helping others!

Volunteers are the essential foundation of voluntary and community activities taking place every day – and the right volunteering role can help to reduce stress, provide mental stimulation, find friends, reach out to the community, provide a sense of purpose, learn new skills and increase activity.

Positive mental wellbeing means feeling good about yourself and the world around you, and being able to get on with life in the way you want. If you think volunteering might help to improve your own mental health and wellbeing, then Medway Volunteer Network can help you to find the right role for you. You can visit our volunteer vacancy webpage that lists opportunities with a diverse range of local charities or you could sign up to receive our MVN Bulletin that will email you monthly with the most recent local volunteering opportunities.

To find out more about how to get involved with volunteering in Medway, visit our dedicated volunteering pages for local residents or email: volunteering@mva.org.uk.
